Musings #11

Hey friends! I hope everyone is staying warm because I hear Juno is pretty cRaY up in the Northeast. A lot of kids I know have a snow day today (I am talking about college-aged kids…) and I know my parents are not planning on leaving the house until tomorrow or Thursday! While you’re all cooped up, and assuming you still have electricity, check out some of these links to pass the time!

This amazing travel photography. Marianna is part of the El Camino Travel team, an awesome company that organizes trips to Central America. In her free time she continues to take advantage of every opportunity to travel. Her photos are incredible and will transport you to beautiful places far away from the cold snow!

This recipe for tumeric-tahini dressing. I’ve been seeing turmeric recipes a lot recently and have no idea what it actually is or what it tastes like, but I’ll give it a try soon. Tahini is always great, especially in dressings, so a big batch of this will be made ASAP.

This Refinery29 article that compares Silver Lake and Venice, California street-styles. I see little difference between the two, and mostly just a bunch of cool people, but either way the inspiration is grrrreat!

The food magazine Lucky Peach just started a website (!!) full of cool recipes. They also mostly focus on ramen so make some of their stuff soon plz and send it my way.

To work off all that ramen goodness, throw on a pair of Outdoor Voices leggings or tops and hit the road! This is the coolest start-up company founded by a girl who grew up in the super active city of Denver, and then went to school in New York City at Parsons to study design. The company has a website and a storefront in Austin, Texas, another city on the top of my “to visit” list. Check them out and support small businesses!

More fashion inspiration from this chick, Pandora Sykes (yes, that’s actually her name). I saw her first on Man Repeller, where she talked about how to rock a nose ring while also making it look ~delicate~ and not punky. She also has her own website, full of street-style outfits, travel guides, and articles on contemporary news topics. She is an all-around really cool, really chic woman and I want her haircut!
