I’m Hung Up On

Greetings my sweet spring chickens!

That was honestly the weirdest opening to a blog post I think I’ve ever written. We’re going to roll with it.

Hope you’re all well in whatever part of the world you’re reading this from! Sevilla is marvelous. It’s finally getting warm here, which is okay with me. Mid-60s in February? I’m not complaining. Did I tell you that I sprained my ankle last week? Yeah, that happened. Walking down stairs and reading this simultaneously. I don’t suggest doing that. I haven’t read the book much lately because a) bad memories and b) it’s pretty depressing; she titled it ‘Dark Places’ for a reason.

I’m looking forward to a chill weekend here before I head to London town next weekend! CHEERIO! Not to worry, I will eat fish and chips and biscuits and whatnot for you. I think Princess Kate and I are having tea on Saturday afternoon; I need to text her to double-check. Last time we spoke, she was looking for a babysitter for lil George. Is anyone interested?

This shakshuka. It makes me wish I’d spent time cooking more adventurously while I was home. Honestly, what’s not to love about this recipe?

My host mom made pisto the night I got home from Paris and it basically blew my mind. It’s basically Spanish ratatouille. In.Sane. I thought I wasn’t hungry, but then I went back for seconds, so I guess I was wrong.

Because sometimes I miss America and burgers, here’s a recipe for Turkey Burgers with Gorgonzola and Chili Garlic Slaw. Someone please make it and tell me how it is. But I wouldn’t recommend going on a date afterwards.

This two week healthy eating plan! I can’t do it because a) I no longer cook for myself and b) Spain wouldn’t know what sweet potatoes or quinoa were if you slapped it in the face with them. The same goes for this as did for the turkey burgers; someone do it for me and let me know how it goes!

Every State’s Favorite Band. The funniest and most random thing I’ve read in a while. How Rick Ross, Ciara, and someone named Bonobo made it onto here I may never know.

Chocolate. Peanut. Butter Cheesecake. Need I say more? Nay, I needn’t.

Europe’s best places to eat like a local. Travel and Leisure, you get me.

Spiced Cauliflower Couscous. The things I would do to get my hands on some pine nuts…

This top. Give me it, please.

The New Potato. It’s my new(ish) favorite website. They feature interviews with people of all sorts (designers, photographers, chefs, actors, editors) and ask them about their favorite foods, restaurants, and their lives. I can’t get enough.

Well+Good’s healthy menu navigator. They basically tell you what to and what not to eat in certain restaurants and situations, such as the conference room lunch, a food truck, or an Indian restaurant. Reading their suggestions is eye-opening and great to know!

What’s the food that you have the hardest time eating in moderation? For me, it’s definitely peanut butter.

How does the coffee shop spell your name? In the USA, I was good old Gabby. In Spain, I’m Gabi. Who knows what I’ll be next.

This dress. I need it and I need it now.

PS. We’re so excited to feature a collaboration here on bean + nash! LEONA is a clothing brand from NYC that just opened a store in Nashville. Their clothes are perfect for the modern woman. She’s trendy yet classic with her own touch of style. LEONA’s clothes are made in the USA, which we lovelovelove. Check back tomorrow for Caroline’s take on their spring line!
